Tree moving
1 April 2024
Thank you to Hilliers for sharing these great photos which show what happens behind the scenes at their end before they are driven over to Ebbsfleet Green.
The feature photo is of the Tibetan Cherry trees in the nursery last summer, aren’t they stunning! I think they are going to look so good this summer with their sculptures.
So first thing they do is use a giant ice cream scooping machine to lift each tree out of the ground. Then they wrap the root balls in hessian and wire that will disintegrate after replanting. They then tip the trees on their side so they can reach the top branches and tie them up in preparation for transporting.
They are then carefully loaded onto the lorry on their balancing points so they don’t fall over and damage the delicate stems. The stems are loaded with buds ready to bloom.
