Sculpture footings
10 March 2024
There was a bit of delay getting the concrete in because of a weeks’ worth of rain, but it all happened on the first available sunny day.
First, they had to pump out all the rain water from the formwork, then the big rotating bee machine arrived and delivered up a load of concrete. A little bit of levelling and it was onto the delicate job of accurately positioning the base plates into the concrete.
Each sculptural thread has a ‘start’ and a ‘finish’, two anchor points – except one has three because it’s so long. It’s vital they are absolutely level and lined up, so when the sculptures arrive, they’ll slot right onto the protruding threaded bar.
